WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!

It was this time last year our minds were clouded by a dream. My first photos of the homestead are from November 11, 2019. At that point in our lives, we were content in our quaint first home - we made a promise to ourselves that we would pay off our first mortgage before committing to another [we broke that promise]. The house had been vacant for 10-15 years; prior to that it seemed to have been under construction. From what we gathered, the entire property was a large dairy farm in the 1800s. The four acres included a house, garage, silo + "other" building, it was all  a diamond in the rough, in my eyes. I had a feeling - just a very strong feeling that this was something special, but there were a few roadblocks.

The biggest roadblock being that this house had a shared driveway..

The driveway went past our house + our property to another lot with ten acres [and a house] and the only  way we could move forward with purchasing this special homestead of ours, was if we somehow convinced my parents to buy that other property [even though it wasn't for sale].

A hop, skip + a jump, decisions were literally made on impulse and overnight and before we knew it, my parents wanted that other property, the other owner wanted to sell it + in December of 2019 dreams were coming true.

WE MOVED IN!

Picture
All in all, the project itself moved fairly quickly - especially since we subcontracted individuals for specific projects, but with covid - quarantines + lockdowns, things took a bit longer here and there.

We've officially been in our home for six months, we still have a list of things that need to get done - but eventually it will all come together.

Stay tuned for future posts + keep an eye out to see how the house turned out!
